We believe it is important for lawyers to take opportunities to educate the public on why law suits are not what raises consumer costs. When the Long Island Business News researched an article about health care costs, Annamarie Bondi-Stoddard took the opportunity to explain the facts about the non-relationship between rising health care costs and lawsuits. Facts she shared:
- A Congressional Budget Office report found medical malpractice costs are less than 2% of overall health costs.
- Studies show that medical malpractice claims and medical malpractice insurance rates are the lowest they have been since 1982.
- States that have not adopted harsh tort reform restrictions saw a greater drop in the average medical malpractice insurance rates.
