Signs You Need a New Doctor

If you’re not completely happy with your physician, it might be time to find a new one. There are a number of reasons why you might not be satisfied with your doctor’s services, and it’s important not to dismiss your own concerns. After all, if you aren’t getting the quality care you need from your doctor, then it could affect your health. Here are some signs that you need a new physician:
Your doctor never seems to be present.
During your visits, is your doctor paying full attention to you? Is he or she maintaining eye contact with you and responding to everything you say? If your doctor seems rushed or distracted during your visits, then you aren’t receiving the attention and careful care that you deserve.
Your doctor doesn’t ask questions.
A good doctor will ask questions and pay attention to your answers because this information can lead to the diagnosis of an illness. Sometimes it’s a question about your family’s history of illness, or he or she might ask which activities worsen your symptoms. If your doctor is brushing off your concerns or not suggesting screenings and further testing, they are doing you a disservice.
Your doctor isn’t coordinating well with other healthcare providers.
If you are seeing other doctors—such as an oncologist for cancer treatment—then your doctor should be communicating with those other physicians and getting the information he or she needs to provide you with appropriate medical advice. If your doctor isn’t up to date on your condition during your appointments, it’s a sign that you should consider finding a new physician.
